CSR can make an important impact for girls rights
Congratulations to all organisations taking part in the International Day of the Girl today (11/10/12) especially Plan. Plan have taken a lead role in the establishment of the global day for girls rights.
We have been covering the development of International Day of the Girl since it was a fledgling concept in the minds of campaigners. Now it is a fully fledged reality and already making a diference generating funds for projects that are all about empowering women into education and better social and employment opportunities, as well as promoting the idea of the importance of women's rights the world over.
As well as the many charities involved also a mention for a CSR involvement in Plan's launch today of its latest state of the world's girls report.
The launch is backed by Credit Suisse who are also helping a number of educational development programmes via the company's Global Education Initiative that supports development partners like Care International, as well as Worldfund, Teach For All and others.
The company's education initiative also supports The Roger Federer Foundation that promotes education projects in Africa.
